K I just rebuilt my 2.0 motor.now I got it to start n run for like 5 mins while I was adj the timing it stalled out.when I went to restart it it cranked really slow.when I was cracking it I tried hitting the gas but everytime I hit the gas it would stop cranking.i manually cranked the motor over by hand with ease.i pulled a brand new battery out of my 86 b2000 n nothing changed.i bleed the fuel line going to the carb.checked all the ground wires.made sure the bolts to the starter were tight.the thing is the truck started up with ease before I rebuilt the motor.any ideas? Please help

Tomorrow I'm gonna take the starter down to my local autozone to be tested.please any ideas?

alot of the time when you set the timing belt on these motors the belt will jump or turn the crank when you tighten the tensioner or it jumps during the first start to me it sounds like your crank jumped and its fighting back pressure on its way up recheck your cam and crank marks and let me know

after the marks are lined up rotate the crank by hand a few full turns and recheck

Well I just found out that the timing belt ters.spring bolt striped out n the belt is loose.so it's prob out of time like you guys said.so a friend of mine is bring is tap set over wday n hopefully thats all it was.

thats possible. but try to retard the timing a little, when you hit the gas and the cranking slows down might be the fact that the fuel is burning way to soon in the compression stroke and fighting the starter.

does it pop or kickback?

Well it spit out white smoke/mist from the carb 2 or 3 times but normally it just cranks

thats a strong sign of off ignition timing
