Back in July, I put a new alternator in my 96 ranger. Had the battery tested and everything checked out ok. About a month ago, I started the truck and the battery light came on with the battery indicator needle pointing toward low. After about 5 minutes of drive time, the light went out and and the needle moved back to the mid position on the battery display. This has happened a few times in the past month.
The other day I went to start it and got nothing but a clicking sound from the left side of the engine bay. After a couple of attempts at starting it with no luck, I popped the hood and shook the battery around and it fired right up.
Today I am having the same problem, drove it for about 40 minutes. Shut it off and attempted to restart it and got the same clicking sound from the left side of the engine bay. I have a new starter that was put in about a year ago and also the little coil pack that mounts to the left side of frame in the engine compartment.
Can anyone offer any explanation or suggestions? Im thinking it might be the battery.
Thanx
