Starting issue

Sometimes when I go to start my truck it will just crank and crank and eventually it will start and idle for a few seconds and then sputter and die but then will normally fire right up. Then other times I go out and it starts right up. Once it is running it runs perfect all 321,000 miles. It will always start this is more irritating than anything else. Any suggestions?

id try and clean the maf sensor with maf sensor cleaner thats where i would start

Maf cleaned and the truck is running better but will still sometimes continue to crank and not start. Once it starts it will choke out, giving it gas does not help. Then it stats and runs fine.

Could be a leak back condition. Fuel leaks back into the tank when the engine is stopped.
Try this. When you get into the truck turn the key to the RUN position. This will allow the fuel pump to build up pressure. Then after a five second count hit the starter... If that works then you have found the problem and a work around.
Most times the repair is a new fuel pump.. but I would decline as long as it does start..
