Ok,

I hope someone can give me some useful advice.

If the truck just clicks when the ignition is turned over, does just starter mounted solenoid need to be replaced or the entire starter.

I just spent for a new battery. (before the clicking started). I thought it would solve the problem. All the electrical seems to work except it the starter will not engage.

I checked for a loose ground by running cables from the bat. neg. to the block, still just clicks.

Could be a bad power cable to the starter.

Could be a gummed up solenoid ON the starter (clean and lube it).

Most AP stores will test your starter for free.

You could also have a bad alternator and your new battery is simply discharged.

Earl,

Regarding the power cable, are you talking about the cable next to the short ground strap on the starter or the black cable on the bottom of the starter grounded to bottom mounting bolt?

A power cable is from the positive (+) side of the battery. A negative cable is from the (-) side of the battery.:)shady
