starter Question who can help me out with my DD?

ok in the last few weeks i have swapped my 91 ranger from a automatic to a standard. ok i have everything put in and ready to go. i go to the parts house to get a starter and they say that my automatic will work. I have never heard of an auto starter and a standard being the same. when i go to put the starter back in it gets caught in the flywheel while it is running and will not kick out.Guys please no answer will go unheard thanks

They might be the same, try adjusting your starter.
What Xmission did you put in?

I had one like that once.. I pulled the bendix and ground about 1/2 inch off of the end of the gear.. That was about 5 years ago, as far as I know it is still in there and doing good..
