I replaced the starter in my 02 Edge mud truck and i have power to everything but when i try to start it all power dies for about 10 seconds then comes back on, ive tried different batteries and jumping it and it does the same thing. Can anyone tell me what could be wrong?
thanks

It's a bad connection, either the positive or ground. Bad ground connection is very common problem.

ive checked all my connections and everything seems fine i tried running an extra ground from the starter body to the frame to see if i lost a ground somewhere and that didnt help. I also tried jumping accross the starter solenoid to start it and it just does the same thing. im so confused with this if anyone can think of anything else it could be i would appreciate it.
Thanks

Corroded cables (inside the sheathing, perhaps?)

I don't know the full scale of electrical stuff inside Rangers after 2000 models.

I found a bad connection and now when I go to start it it just clicks like the battery is dead but ive tried all different batteries and same thing ive checkedground connections on the starter and block everything is good is there any other connections imissing

If the power still drops out for a few seconds after you try to start it you still have a bad connection somewhere. If the power to the rest of the truck stays constant it might be the solenoid on the inner fender, it just works as a relay on the later trucks.

Is the starter you put in a good one? Sounds like it might be bound up or, hopefully a bad solenoid but if you jump it and it doesn't spin I might suspect the starter itself.

the starter is good it has been tested out of the truck multiple times i have ran both a new pos and neg to it and there is no solenoid on the inner fender its just on the starter the pos go right from the battery to the solenoid on the starter and the neg goes from the battery to the engine block then to the solenoid on the starter i cleaned the block before i put the new neg cable on im getting both pos and neg on the starter as well as switched power from the key if anyone has anym ore ideas of what it could be please let me know im so confused on what it could be
Thanks
