any one starter clearence issues not on the frame rail but w headers got those junk heddmans that shoot straight into frame rail now my starter is to big its hittin my hedder its off a f150 w/ m5r2 tranny considered grinding down the journel for the bendix that hangs off the back of the starter and denting the hedder a hair or four but aint thrilled for that any ideas on a smaller bone yard starter i could snag?

yep, I had problems with the collector being one inch away from the back of the starter....the starter would turn over slower after driving in stop/go traffic...I couldn't even put my hand on the back of it because it got so hot...I bought some good quality heat-reflecting wrap & covered the half of the starter that's closest to the header with it...I can put my hand on the starter now & it's warm only from engine heat transfer...

Do what you can to get some space between the starter & the header...then wrap it...
