so i posted a couple days back that when i try and start the truck the starter makes a horrible grinding sound because it doesnt disengage, well i tried to bump start it today and when i went to drop the clutch i heard the sound of the starter on the flyweel, what would cause this?

Wrong starter motor, gear isn't back far enough to disengage.

Bendix spring is broken or drive is jammed.

Remove starter and try bump starting, to see if it is the starter that is making the noise.

it is a brand new starter and looks just like my old 1 though, idk i guess ill try that tomorrow

Could be the old starter solinoid sticking too. Use a jumper cable and go from batt + to the starter side (Key on, Park/nutr, e-brake set) and see if it makes any diff. Just dont run yourself over. Make sure you dont have any lazy connections all the way through too.
