Hey guys,

I need to pick up a set of flare nut wrenches for an imminent steering pump/hose replacement on my '94 Ranger. Anyone know if the flare nuts (particularlly on the power steering system, but brake lines as well) are standard or metric?

I'll be looking for a standard/metric combo set, but if Sears doesn't have it in stock I might have to go with one or the other.

Thanks!

i know that all of the hardware that ive messed with on my truck has been metric, that doesnt exactly mean that all the hardware will be metric though. look in a Haynes or a Chilton and see whats up. there may be an open manual at the local autozone or something and take a peek.

The power steering fittings on your 1994 are english.

As are MOST of the brake line fittings

However if you have an ABS equipped 1993-94 you will find that the flare nuts at the ABS pump are metric, while all others are still english.

All bets are off on the master cylinder threads and hex sizes

Thanks a lot Allan. Turns out Sears doesn't keep much of a selection in stock so I'm just going to order the metric/standard set online and be done with it.

Thanks again!
