I swapped a 5.0 out of a 96 explorer into my 94 Ranger a few years back, and now I am looking for a new option for engine management. I would like to use Microsquirt, but I can not find a simple plug in option like they offer for the Foxbody Mustangs.
I am willing to go with something other than Microsquirt if it offers a relatively simple installation.

does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you.

To be honest If you use a mass airflow computer and engine harness its really simple from a 87-93 mustang. Like 12 wires need tapped into to make everything work. You can tune those or get some aftermarket options. That would be plug and play. Thats how my 90 is setup.

I used the FAST EZ-EFI for the multi port.

I'm using the Megasquirt MSPNP GEN2 ECU which is for the Fox Mustang applications. That's for the 60 pin EEC IV ECUs and I'm wondering if you have the Explorer wiring harness in yours and that is keeping you from going this route. I'm quite satisfied with the MS unit.

Megasquirt or Microsquirt.

Have one running my 2.9. Get it and never look back.

The DIYPNP is damn near plug and play. Just mind your jumpers between the BOB and motherboard. There's a place near philly that sells adapter harnesses as well.

@deathbypsi has one running his V8 B2. He posted YouTube video of his install. As easy as it gets.

Thanks for the info! yes, I am using the Explorer harness. I remeber seeing on a forum a few years back that there was a plug adapter for Mircosquirt that some guy used on his Exlporer, but I can not locate the page.

That adpter plug might be what I am trying to locate. I saw that some guy on another forum used one on an Explorer a few years ago.

Most likely is. Efi source (IIRC) has them. If not, just change your wiring around on the ecm part of the harness. Scotchloks go a long way with that one. Their units also come with a 5.0 base tune if you request it.
