Stalls initially after start at temp below 30F. cold

1991 2,3, manual at 94k

No codes set on this problem. Engine starts readily but will stall during the first minute of use. It then restarts only with pedal in the wide -open -throttle position ---- holding pedal in this position prevents further fuel injection.

My guess is a dirty idle air control motor as this condition would set no codes. But I would like to hear from others who experienced and then solved a similar problem.

my 2.8 does it to for me it is my auto choke that isnt working... dont know if ur truck is carbed or not but if it is that is most likely ur prob

Thanks for taking the time to reply but the truck is of course fuel injected. It's interesting to note however that the idle air control valve performs the same enrichment function as a choke does on a carburetted engine.

that might be ur problem then dont know for sure as my knowlage is in carbed instead of efi
