Hi all, trying to figure out this problem...... My truck doesn't want to run....
It'll start when I turn the key, rev up to 1500 and then chug once or twice and stall. Even if I give it some gas, I get an extra chug and stalls....

I've changed the fuel filter, spark plugs and yes there's gas in the tank... I plan on cleaning the MAF and IAC this week seeing if it changes anything wanting to Seafoam it once I get it working again.

Lately before it stop running, I couldn't even make it up a hill, lost of power and mileage.... very rough idle some times shakes just idling where you could break a wrist trying to hold the shifter!!!

It kind of sounds like it could be your fuel pump dude.. When mine was going bad when I pulled to a stop light or stop sign i had to hold the brake down and give it gas or it would die... Hope that's not your case but I would investigate it further..

unplug the MAF sensor and try to start it.

The truck starts and stays running when I disconnect the MAF, I've spray it with cleaner. Dunno if I sprayed enough......? How to I test the MAF aside from unplugging it?

How do I do a resistance test..... I see the tech section on how, but not weather I disconnect it to use the DVOM....?

Just looked at prices find out if it is bad first someone here would know how to clean and check it proper

I read it but it dont really say but if it dont idle you cant do that test anyway if you need it plugged in did you try taking it off and cleaning it real good first

I took the MAF off and used close to a half can of MAF Cleaner, hooked it back still nada, won't start.... But it will start when it's unplugged.

I tested it with a DVOM, I think I tested it right, I got on the A-B terminals about 13/14 volts.

Only thing I didn't do was disconnect the negative terminal on the batter as it's a PITA to do, would that do any difference.....? It never threw a CEL, ever.....?

don't bother trying to test it. its bad. replace it.

and YES do unplug the battery after you replace it with a new sensor. this resets the fuel trims

Well I called around and up here in Canada you can't get the MAF anywhere but Ford itself for $240.... Ouch~!!!

I doubt I'm gonna have luck in a savage yard, they don't seem to keep anything older than 5-6 years. :dunno:

im sure somebody on this board would be willing to send one. i don't know.

you can drive it with the MAF unplugged until you get a new one

0.1 or 0.2 ohm read on ohmeter resistance you did not think to ebay and autopart

Ok, I replaced it with another one same model #, everything.... Hooked everything all up, even disconnected the negative terminal on battery for 30mins, still nothing... It won't stay running after I start it, it dies right away.. If I unplug it'll run... I'm at my wits ends, pulling hair out~!!!!!

make sure the pins of the plug have good tension in them and check for any damaged wires. does wiggling the plug make any difference?
