My 89 bronco II stalls after its started, and shifted from park into gear. It happpens maybe fifty percent of the time. From idling in park, to in gear it just stalls. It also occurs if you are just idling in drive. It has the A4LD tranny.

I think most will tell you to remove the Idle Air Control (IAC) off the passengers side of the upper intake and clean it with intake cleaner, and that IS the best place to start. I did that but still had the same problem as you.
Even though everyone said not to I turned the idle stop screw on the throttle body in about a quarter turn and have not had a problem since. It idles at about 700 RPM. Before that it idled at about 500 RPM. It has not stalled since.
Just a thought.

torque conveter clutch may be locked up. Buddy had that problem with his f250
