Okay... I have tried everything I can think of but I still cannot figure out my issue. Here is what the problem is that I am having with my '86 Ranger 2.9L 4x4, It starts up and runs fine for a while and then it goes into the idle. It will idle fine for a while but then it seems to slow the idle down to where it finally dies. I try to press on the accelerator but it does not rev the engine. It seems like it kills the engine faster.
So what I have changed out is a control module, the thermostat, the coolant, and did an oil change. Also cleaned up the wiring and put heat protection around it. If someone can help me out and give me some ideas to check that would be great. I need this vehicle to travel between home and my college which is 80 miles from my home. Thanks!
