2.3L ('83-'97) Stalling and will restart

My 1995 2.3L is having an issue where it will sputter and stall out. After about 20 minutes it will start and run fine. I replaced the fuel filter and it was way past due and was very dirty. I suspect the system is dirty. 1. How should I clean it?. So you think I am on the right track or should I try something else?

Would that work most of the time and just stop? Then run great again?

Scott knows his way around these engines better then I do... so if he says something I wouldn't rule it out.

That said... is it turning on the check engine light... any codes... have you looked at the engine data with a scan tool? Your symptom sounds temp related to me.

Fuel system cleaning... you can have the injectors cleaned or do it yourself. But if it runs "great" when warm... I doubt it would fix anything. Pick a quality Fuel system cleaner and start using it per manufacturer recommendation. Not a miracle in a bottle... but over time I feel many cleaners will provide benefits.

Crank sensors can heat up and lose the magnet in them then work again when they cool, so it's possible. It's the only thing that stands out at the moment unless you lost a capacitor in the ECM...

Thanks gentlemen I will change the Crank sensor as well as put my Lucus fuel system cleaner in. It will be a few weeks before I get to but I will update the thread. I really appreciate it .
