Hello all,
My 96 Ford ranger(4x4 4.0 V6) has been having some issues at idle. Even when hot, sometimes when I stop, the RPMs will start bouncing around, and the truck will rock back and forth, and this usually leads to stalling. Now, I've changed the driver's side spark plugs, and I will be changing the passenger soon, but do you have any other ideas as to the cause?

Check your fuel filter, condition of your spark plug cables, test your coil packs, check fuel pressure, clean/replace your air filter, check your grounds. There are many different variables you can check.

Is it a manual or automatic?

+++ on fuel pressure.

i'd reccomend a compression check on top of everything listed above. last summer i was experiencing very similar issues and after lots of troubleshooting both heads ended up being cracked causing random rapid misfiring that progressed until it was constant
