i have a 93 ranger when i shift into drive or reverse the truck stalls out. any info or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

When it stalls, does it just sort of fall off slowly or does the engine just halt like something is impeding its operation? If the latter, you may have an issue with a lockup torque converter staying locked on. Based upon your description, I'm assuming you have an automatic...

lock up stuck...try to ground the tcc solenoid wire(one without key on power) if it clicks from the trans pan then t/c is bad. if no click tcc solenoid is bad
