First off, If you don't like the idea of launching squirrels across the yard, you should just click the back button right now. I don't want to hear all of that nonsense about hurting squirrels, after all they are just rats with bushy tails. This contraption hasn't killed a squirrel yet, and most of the squirrels come back for more.

Alright, this is the squirrel launcher that I mentioned in the "I are a redneck" thread. It's a really simple contraption, and it also works quite well. The slingshot bands are made from 3/8" surgical tubing (about ten feet in length). The trigger is a gate latch which has a string tied to it. The string goes into the house through a window, so whenever I walk through the kitchen and I see a squirrel on the launch pad (the bricks) I can just pull the string from inside the house and he gets to go for a little ride:icon_rofl: The supports that hold the front of the slingshot are just lengths of rebar with tennis balls on top for safety. (not the safety of the squirrels, the safety of my father when he's stumbling around the yard:dunno:) The launch pad is covered with cracked corn, which squirrels seem to love.

So far this year I have launched a total of 16 squirrels, but only 2 or 3 have made it over the fence into the neighbor's yard.

The best part about this is that one of my neighbors is one of those animal rights people, and the look on his face was priceless when he asked me what "that thing out in the yard was":D

This is the whole launcher. You can see the trigger (string) that goes towards the house. The fence in the background is what I try to launch the squirrels over.

This is a closer look at the pouch of the slingshot and the trigger mechanism.

I will update this thread with a link to a youtube video once I get enough good launches on tape to make a halfway decent compilation.

Dood......

THAT IS EFFFIN' HILARIOUS!

Please get video....soon.:icon_thumby:

I don't have any videos of squirrels getting good launches yet, but I can put up a video or two from before I adjusted the launch pad, where the squirrels just got smacked in the face by the slingshot and they rolled across the ground.

EDIT: I just uploaded a video on youtube. My camera is crap and I didn't open the screen on the window when I took the video, so it looks even worse. You might have to watch the video full screen to be able to see the squirrel.

HAHAHAHA this is going to be the funniest launcher to date, if it goes right they should fly right up and over that picket fence into the trees.. good rig man i cant wait to see a good launch

I think I'll have a video of at least one good launch within the next week or two.

hahahahah that is wicked stuff. as soon as i seen the launch pad i lol'd.

it would be funny if the squirrel flew right in to the fence, and slowly slid down the fence like a bird or a wet sponge sliding down a window :D

Not true! Squirrel tastes good! Replace the launcher with a snare and heat up the crock pot!

I'm helping out my neighbor. I don't think you can see it in the pictures, but just on the other side of the fence my neighbor has a grill and smoker set up. I'm just launching them over to him so he can eat them. :D

I have a 300 dollar pellet gun from gamo that gave me ten squirrels and two meals. No I dont support the squirrel rights activists.

i was thinking rotisserie

Just take care you don't dry em out. They are pretty lean.

Cool, as long as he shares with you. :D

Haha, that's good stuff. Maybe you should make the pouch a little bigger so the squirrel can fit better in it. Did you put corn in the pouch?

Funny. I am glad someone isn't too busy with productive stuff that keeps them from building small animal launchers. I do enjoy watching them, but lack that type of time.

After what PETA the worlds biggest PITA did whining about obama killing a fly... I don't want to be in your house when the worthless b@st@rds, are camping out front.

I would prefer to see a cat launched, much more worthless creature.
