my 97 2.3 4x2 5 speed has a wierd squeaking or i guess more like a squeal at high rpms right before i shift. it kind of sounds like it could be a bearing or maybe even a heat shield but i really dont think its that. it doesnt do it in neutral when you rev but it will when you go do the road. the heat shields look to be in good shape so im kind of rulling that out, but could it be a bearing in the trans or the throw ouot bearing. it may also be some kind of pulley on the motor. i really dont know, nut i want to see if anyone else has this problem and what i can do to fix it. thanks

If it was the throw out bearing will make noice when using the clutch. if you think it may be a belt take some sope and water mix and put it on the belt.
