Squeaky belts, how do i remove oil?

How much is this belt? Replace it and fix the oil leak.

Typically, those fixes don't last very long. Remove the serp belt and wash off the pulleys with a pressure washer. Install a new belt.

I split my right pinky finger to the bone years ago messing with belts and fans while the engine was running. Wasn't a pretty sight.

I *WISH* those serpentine belts were $20.

Just spent $45 on mine after a seized A/C compressor smoked it.

But it's still far cheaper than the emergency room.

I'd remove the IDLER and lube it up a bit. That's a very, very low-tech "bearing." Feel ALL the pulleys for roughness or noise while the belt is off.

I vote for replacing the belt and keeping the old one as a spare. For all the trouble and danger of all the other (possibly temporary) methods, just remove the old one and (with the engine off of course) clean everything off and install a new belt. Most of the time when you go the cheap way, you end up spending more money and time.
