How did you guys get rid of them? Is it something as simple as wd-40 or just replacing whatever it is? I don't know about y'all but it's just startin to get skittle annoying. Help please?!

Replace bushings and add sound deadening to your vehicle. Not much you can really do. Welcome to owning an old truck.

^what he said, except the part about the ignoring traffic thing

I installed a good Sony head unit and removed the muffler.

My truck really only has one truly annoying noise, the driver's window rattles a bit because the run is worn out. But these trucks were not built to be quiet like today's trucks are. They were built to move things that won't fit in a station wagon.

If you have a squeking, growning noise while taking off in first gear & you also notice that the shifter is moving more towards the passenger side while accelerating you may want to check the drivers side motor mount.

In 2010 I used my 94 2wd ranger with LS 8.8 rearend ,2.3,5 spd to pull more then 40 laurel hedge stumps out of the ground that where more then 50 yrs old.
While doing that task I noticed my shifter was moving towards the passenger side. I thought it was the shifter shafts bushings ,so I just ignored it.

Fast forward to March 2012. Slave cylinder's plastic housing started to show where & also started to hear whining noise from the throw out bearing & 5th gears bearings started to make whining sounds.

I located another 5spd from a 1990 Ranger that only had 82,000 miles on it when that engine seized up. I installed that tranny along with a new slave cylinder & throw out bearing. After this install I noticed that the shifter shaft still moved towards the passenger side upon take off & during acceleration in 2nd & 3rd gear & the squeking/growning sound was still there.

Now to May 2012. A few weeks ago on a Saturday I lost power steering due to a leak which I thought was from a power steering pumps resevoir seal. I figured I would hold out until next week end to replace pump. On Wednesday of the next week while crossing the Narrows Bridge in Tacoma,Wa my engine compartment started smoking.

Smoke was from the serpentine belt that wasn't being turned as the PS pump seized up & caused the crank pulley to start smoking the belt that wasnt moving.

I pulled over as soon as I could & also noticed that the PS pump resevoir had melted due to the heat from the pump. While the PS pump seized it alos ment that my alternator was charging the battery, for how long I wasn't sure of.

I removed the belt & figured I could start it up & drive the rest of the way home. Well that didnt happen as the truck was running off of the battery alone & when I went to restart there wasnt enough volt to start it. Called fiancee to come & jump start me.

Got truck started & figured I could drive the distance left to get truck home. Wrong again as I only got about 3 miles further away when truck died due to no electical power.

Fiancee was following me ,so I had her take me to Auto zone to get a New PS pump & bought a new pulley also ,along with Pulley removal/replacement rental tool & new serpentine belt.

In the process of removing the PS pump I noticed that the PS leak was from the return line that was pinched between the PS bracket & the PS gear box. So once I got truck home I checked the drivers side motor mount & it was broken in half, which allowed the return line to get pinched when engine lifted during any torque of the engine.

While I was in the front engine area I decided to replace the H20 pump & upper & lower Radiator hoses also being as I noticed a slight leak from the weep hole on the water pump.

So moral of this story is "If something doesnt seem right ,best to check into it rather then thinking it may be something else."

HA,HA THIS CERTAINLY WASNT A QUICK REPLY

Only once a year. I get the small squeak from the rear leafs and I lube them up and the noise is gone. I guess I am lucky. Could be really loud and annoying....lol

Your truck is talking to you. It might be saying "I'm dying" or "I'm old". Squeaks and groaning are indicators of something not quite right. Spend the time to find out what the problem is. Check everything (body and suspension bushings, engine and trans mounts, belts, hoses and everything else). Then decide what, if anything, to do about it. At least then, you've made an informed decision.

The other option is to be (possibly) stuck with a dead vehicle in traffic or out in the boonies because you didn't check the 'little squeak' from your truck.

Body bushings, suspension bushings, etc are good starts. Another one is to get rid of the passenger seat, so the old lady has no where to sit.:D

When I got my truck, it squeeked horribly. The past two years have been a slow and steady job of replacing all bushings/wear parts. The truck now feels new. All the bushings I have replaced have been Energy Suspension polyuerethane ones.

I've replaced:

radius arm bushings
pivot arm bushings
balljoints
spindle bearings, seals, boots
wheel bearings/seals
ALL brake parts including the disc 8.8 in back
removed sway bars
coil spring insulators
door pins

Motor mounts, body bushings, and leaf spring bushings were good so I didnt touch them.

removal of passenger seat was a good one:icon_rofl::icon_thumby:

squeaks for me are due to loose screws in the dash/seat from when the P/O tried to install a radio..

I can't stand it when a squeak/noise/rattle develops while I'm driving...

so I try not to move my head too much...

but more seriously......

I installed a 1936 body (no....not MY body) on my Ranger chassis annnnd...

IT'S SUPPOSED TO SQUEAK/RATTLE......So now I don't have to worry about it.

Fiberglass squeaks?:icon_rofl:

I either ignore them, listen to my 2.8 tick or let the fiancee in the truck to drown them out.
