Squatting vehicles, proposed/new law

I can’t disagree with Dirtman’s assessment. I see no useful purpose for what they are trying to stop and if the pictures are the typical example, creates a bad visibility of the road issue.

Looks like the pic might have been taken at Walmart. Blame them😂.

Doing that too any vehicle is just plain stooooooooooopid.

I don't understand most of the goofy things people do to vehicles now adays. Some people like lowering trucks, I think its dumb but it can make the truck perform better for racing and if its still safe then you do you. Lifted trucks with 26" rims are also ridiculous but hey, if its safe, again, go for it. But it seems these custom trends have gone from simply pointless to flat out dangerous. This is a good example, not only does it serve no function whatsoever but as sarge said, how do you see out of something like that? You could run over a kid and not even know it because you're looking at the sky and not the road. I also hate those stupid cars with the crazy amount of camber. Its all for looks, serves no purpose, and is dangerous.

Why? Tell me how this in any way makes the car anything but dangerous and useless?

Do all the stupid dangerous stuff you want but keep it off public roads...

They can ban it all they want, BUT people are creative and will find ways around it and be technically legal.

Like.. installing super light leaf packs and maxing out the trucks payload with a million bricks in the bed. Truck will have "hella" squat.

Also, this is the kinda crap that makes lawmakers look down on doing any customization to your vehicle. These idiotic "vehicles" make everyone who likes to customize their ride look bad. People who make safe useful alterations to their cars shouldn't be lumped in with this crowd. The laws they make to ban this dangerous crap is often written in vague terms that includes normal customization so it effects us all negatively. So while i still support making these goofy trucks illegal, it's not necessarily a "good" thing.

We need less laws. More common sense.

It is either Dot safe or not.

I feel the same way WhistlinDiesel does about squatted trucks. They all need destroyed.

The kids around here call it the Tennessee tilt. I call it flat out ugly. You see this idiots hanging out a window like my old dog to see where they are going. My buddy says if you squat you truck you probably squat to pee too haha.

Yeah Cody (WhistlinDiesel) snagged one and properly modified it, hell yeah brother.

I dont get the lifted trucks with the smallish but wide tires, reminds me of the slot cars from back in the day.

That's as dumb as riced out cars with extreme negative camber and no suspension travel. If you could make a truck handle properly like that- which you can't- the headlights would point at the sky. Our state inspection would keep stuff like that off the road, even though we allow lifted trucks up to 30" to the bottom of the bumper which I don't like.

I think squatted trucks are stupid but plenty of people think lifted trucks are stupid too. Should we ban lifted trucks? Lowered trucks? My thing is, if they can ban one modification how long will be it before they ban a modification that I enjoy?
Not only that but current NC law already limits lowering or raising a vehicle's bumper more than 6". We don't need more laws, we need to enforce the current laws.

I agree with the above...

But there has to be limits. When things become unsafe to the general public... you simply have to draw a line.

It's going to come to a point where some of these mods have to be for off-road use only.

Take it to the track... haul it to the mountains/off road park... trailer it to the drag strip. But lets keep it safe for everyone using the road system.
