spray paint?

i want to paint a big flag on my hood and dont have to much money to do it. how well does spray paint work?

I can only assume you mean rattle can as opposed to air assisted application versus paint brush? You can make rattle can work well if you prep properly and pay attention to detail.

whats the best kind of rattle to use brand? color?

yes i was gonna use a rattle can is there any brands you would recomend, and if i put a clear coat over it will it help protect and give it a shine?

Definitely put clear coat over it, but make sure that the two paints will be okay with eachother. I know some clearcoats HATE spray paint and will eat it up.

Use the same brand of paint and clearcoat, and you should be fine.

Personally, I like SEM brand. I seems to lay out even and flows well. I used it on my front bumper and facia. It took/has taken a lot of rock punishment due to traveling on road construction. The SEM paint shows very small dings while the OEM is chipping three times larger.
