I have a 2005 ranger with an open diff rear end 8.8 and 4.10 gear.
My buddy had a spare axle out of a sportrac will it fit on the Ranger?
The numbers on his axle are s663a 4L10 88 OE04

You will have to re locate the spring perches to the top side of the axle tubes as explorers and sport tracs are spring under. It has the same gear ratio you currently have 4.10:1 and it has a limited slip. Another plus is that it should have discs on it.

Well I know it has the LSD on it, thats why I want it. But it was drum.

If I just want to swap out my open diff for the lsd diff can I do that? Will the axle shafts fit?

Depends on the year...01-02 had drums, 03+ have discs.

No, the ranger is 28 spline, explorer is 31 spline.

btw, is there a reason you have 2 threads exactly the same?
