I wanted to get a locker for my Dana 35 front on my b2, but wouldn't a spool be the same thing? Does it really matter?

Won't steer when the hubs are locked in and not to mention what damage would occur to the 35. I wouldn't do it. Now the rear is a different story.

Spools are only good on 100% dirt truck / crawler.

You need to unlock the diff on road to keep safe and not brake shit. In my opinion the only time you want your diff locked is when you can't make it with it open. Like mud or big obstacles. Otherwise your stressing everything for no reason...

Get a selectable locker or leave it open. Or try a LS from a D35 Jeep rear. Im looking into this myself. I don't know if its guna work yet, I have been reading alot of inconsistent info....

I actually like a spool in the front. They aren't as bad, in my opinion, as people say they are. Not many people have actually driven one. You just unlock the passenger side hub until you need traction on that side. On the road it doesn't matter because they shouldn't be locked in any way.

Does driving with a locked front ARB locker count?
Because I know damn well I would not want that thing locked 100% of the time.

If you do get a spool, I would strongly suggest you invest in a large power steering cooler and better PS pump (ram-assist would be even better still, though this would also require you swap to a different steering linkage).

Mini spool or full spool?

I've driven a lot with a front auto locker (including snow) and love it. I wouldn't want a spool though.

It really boils down to what you can afford. if you have the money, go for a selectable locker. you will love it on tight trails. even a lockrite or detroit isnt that bad on steering. but if you weld the spider gears up (home made spool) or get a spool its gona be hard to steer without some type of ram assist or super pump, unless u get out and unlock one hub.
