Splines making noise on turns?

I have a 2006 Ford Ranger Sport 4x4, Sometimes when I make tight turns or stop I hear a sort of sliding then clunk near the tranny or front right. I recently greased the splines and it went from what seemed like almost every turn to every other turn. Well I turned the wheels all the way to the side, put it in park, and rocked the truck back and forth really hard and saw that the splines were clunking when they moved back and forth. Like they were hitting or something. Does this make sense? I have never heard of a problem with splines and turning. Also everyone keeps telling me it's a CV joint. But it sounds and FEELS as if a lead weight is sliding around and hitting below the passengers feet. When I looked up bad CV joint, they talked a lot about feeling it in the steering wheel, and I don't. Only from the floor on the passengers side. What's your opinion on it?

I checked the CV joint boot and it seemed fine and unharmed. So I don't think that's it...
