85 ranger with a 91 4.0 . left me staded today . is not the maf .the code reeder says 86 and 89 . is it the egr valv upper . and is it safe to pull on at the junk yard or can i cleen it for a temp fix

Most of the time you can clean them for a temporary fix.
Carbon builds up in the EGR and makes them stick.
I'd try that 1st.
