Last year one of my wheel bearings went bad and I had to use an air hammer to get it off of the spindle. I damaged the spindle a little bit and now I'm having a hard time getting that rotor/bearing off. I want to fix this all and do it right. Where can I get the new part that I need (spindle?)? I guess I just need that rod/shaft part of it, or does it all come as one piece? The pictures I found on ebay didn't look like they included the part I need.

why an air hammer? the spindal is separate. the shaft is the axle shaft(if its 4x4), you can remove it by taking the 5 nuts behind the rotor off, and the abs sensor (if equiped). which part is damaged? the splines on the shaft, or the spindle itself? and i would go to a junk yard.

Sorry, I forgot to mention it is 2wd. I had to use the air hammer to get the wheel bearing off because when it came apart some of it was kind of fused to that shaft it sits on. I don't remember exactly what as damaged on it but I remember it wouldn't accept the new bearing very well and like a fool I kind of forced it on there. I'm going to try the junk yards today.

Don't forget to take a rubber mallet, else you'll ruin the new one too.

Ok I got the new one and decided it would be a good day to replace the nasty ball joints too. I got a new upper control arm with the joint already in it, now I can't get it to fall down into the spindle. It goes in, but only up to the first "lip" on the joint. Does it have to go all the way in until the boot is touching the spindle?

Well it turns out they gave me an upper control arm/ball joint for a ranger with torsion bar suspension instead of coil spring. It was just a little too big to fit in there. I got it in now and everything is all set. Only problem is that I turned the wheel when the truck was off and sprayed out some power steering fluid. When I went to test drive it, the wheel shudders when I turn it. I figured it had to do with the power steering pump. I jacked the front up and with the truck off, the wheel turns free. With the truck on the wheel turns free. When I put the truck on the ground, it shudders when I turn the wheel. I jacked the truck back up, took the cap off the power steering fluid and turned the wheel lock to lock a bunch of times. This helped some, but it still shudders sometimes. Do you think it has to do with the pump or something else I did?

proly air i the lines still my bros exploder does the same thing if it gets low on fluid
