I'm in the process of trying to convert from auto to manual hubs in my '87 Ford Ranger.

Not having much luck with getting the right spindle nut conversion.

23 spline I believe

And here's the no.'s off the axle tag, what I can read

Top: ?? 77A B
Bottom: ?? 0298-7

If I strike out tomorrow, does anyone have a source where I can obtain these?

Thanks...

On a Dana 28?

Find your favorite junkyard and ask if you can take a pair. These are EVERYWHERE, and they might even be free.

Splines are irrelevant for the nuts. It just has to be a Dana 28.

Just strip a junkyard axle. A lot cheaper and easy as can be. Just strip yours down to the spindle and replace with everything from the yard. First side will take about an hour. The other side will take about ten minuets.

he doesnt need to replace the rotors, wheel bearings, or any of that. all he needs is to take the spindle nuts off a truck with manual hubs and screw them onto his truck.

its funny to see MAKG actually miss a important point. make sure the inner spindle nut has the little pin on it or its useless because the spindle nuts will back off every 100-1000 miles depending on your luck and how tight you make the outter spindle nut.

Nobody said anything about any of those part. Go down only to the spindles. Not rotors or bearing or axles or drain plug. Just down to the spindle.

If he takes all the parts to the spindle he will have both the inner and outer nuts and the locking ring. They are fairly self explanatory.

you must of never seen the inner spindle nut with a sheared or nearly worn off pin. i have seen and done it myself. they dont hold tight without the pin.

but the rotors and bearings are ON the spindle...it seems like your suggesting he pull the rotors and bearings off to get to the spindle, which he doesnt need to do :icon_confused:

or maybe im just reading your post wrong :dunno:

Yes that is true. You should check that the pin is there on the donor truck.

Yes, they are on the spindle. They don't need to be taken. I was thinking the stuff on the end of the spindle. I wasn't thinking that far into it. My bad. I knew what I was thinking, why didn't you. LOL
