I have a 2001 ranger ext cab, had 3.0 and automatic. replaced 3.0 with 1999 explorer 4.0 sohc. changed underhood harness and transmission. I had the explorer computer flashed to disable the anti theft. everything works fine(all gauges, tach included) except the speedometer any ideas?????

2001 used OSS(speed sensor) on trans/transfer case, it was hooked to the 2001 computer(PCM) where it was adjusted for axle ratio and tire size, then sent out to speedometer.

1999 used VSS(speed sensor) on rear axle, it connected to the ABS(anti-lock brake) module where it was adjusted for axle ratio and tire size, then sent out to speedometer, also computer(PCM) and cruise control.

The 2001 ABS can't convert signal, and '99 computer can't either
So you need something that can.

Look at this: http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=126/prd126.htm

You will need to high jack the rear axle ABS signal then send it back out to ABS, PCM, Cruise, and speedometer.
Benefit is that it is user adjustable for axle ratio and tire size.
