2007 Ford Ranger 4x4 4.0 Manual transmission, going from 31/10.5r15 to 235/75r15

How do I adjust the speedometer/odometer? A local dealer wants $165. I read online that I can just get a different gear for the cable down by the transmission, after figuring out the miles that it's off and how many teeth the current gear has. What do you recommend? Thanks

Your 2007 Ranger does not have a cable driven by a gear in the transmission. Older Rangers did but it is all electronic now. You will need to have the computer reprogrammed to calibrate the speedometer. There are many ways to do it or have it done but they all cost money.

I've seen people take the dash apart and move the speedometer needle, but this way of doing it seems not good and a potential in damaging dash parts. Also, can't do the odometer that way. So ideally I need to find someone with a programmer, then?

Basically yes.

Or if I buy a programmer, then I can play with other things, too, right? Can anyone recommend a programmer that I can adjust tire size with and change other things, too? Something not too too expensive?

Hypertech has a calibrator but you would need to call them to find if your year can be calibrated or middle-manned.
Calibrated changes the computer software
Middle-man installs on Vehicle sensor wires to change pulse count and is left in place after programming

If yours can just be calibrated then I would find a shop that can do it, unless you plan on changing tire size or ratios often
