speedometer question

I have a 99 ranger 4.0L auto that I am putting a 97 expo engine and harness in it. I know that the speedometer systems are different between the two. I am also using a 97 4R70W out of a 4.2 F-150. Will my cluster pick up that signal from the older harness or is there something else I have to do? I went with the 97 because it didn't have PATS and all the available JY vehicles don't have keys with them.

Speedometer shouldn't be affected, just plug the hole in the new trans, if it has one.
