1998 Ranger, 4.0 automatic transmission, 4x4.
Speedometer is flakey, sometimes it works, most times it don't. I'm being told the instrument cluster has to be replaced. Ford Part number 10849 given to me by Ford's parts dept.
Last 8 of the vin are WTA68155.
I don't understand how any of this works. I'm guessing the speedometer attaches to the back of the instrument cluster and that's where it's breaking down at\where the problem is at.
So is this like a known problem, speedometer flakes out and the problem is typically the connection on the instrument cluster.
Does this sound about right to you guys?
