i have a 98 ranger. my speedometer has always been iffy, i bought the truck used and it would occasionally stop working which you could solve by banging the dash above it. but now it hasnt worked at all in months, i have replaced the abs/speed sensor on the diff, traced the wiring from that sensor up to the front of the truck, tore the dash apart and checked the wiring there, i took the actual gauge module itself out and tried to hook up some power to get the needle to move but it didnt work (this didnt work with any of the other gauges though, which are all functioning). has anyone else had this issue?? i am at my wits end with this issue, i just cant seem to crack it. :icon_confused:

I have a neon with the same problem. On the neons it's caused by a poor solder joint on/in the gauge cluster. The fix is to desolder and resolder the pins affected. Or replace the cluster. I don't know if this is a solution for you but is something to check out.
Good luck,

Richard
