speedo swap and stalling issue

I swapped a speedo unit from a 97 explorer from eBay into my 97 2.3 4 banger ranger and the speedo reads really high now. Do I have to have the derned thing readjusted at the dealership or can the gear on the vss be changed like on the tech library? It is one without a cable.

Also, while driving slowly around town at maybe 20mph and trying to smoothly maintain speed, the ranger has been giving me a consistent stall. It looses power and then goes, looses power and goes. It idles fine and if I use just a little more accelerator, it acts normal. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hate to brake it to you, but the Explorer and Ranger instrument cluster do not inner change. Unless you are willing to do a little re-wiring. I've found this out a long time ago. The lights were wrong, gauges did not read right. But it did come in handle when I had to replace the odometer motor and a few lights.

For it to work, you'll need a cluster from another Ranger. Preferably one with the same engine.
