speedo quits working ????

i got a 98 ranger 4.0 & in the summer when its real hot my speedo dont work & yesterday when i had the heater on it quiet working also ?????? i guess it has something to do with something under the dash not working when it gets hot ?????????? anyone have any idea what the problem is
