Not sure if anyone has ever run into this. I have 1994 4x4 3.0L manual trans. The speedo worked just fine before I added a 4in lift kit. I drove the truck as soon as i completed to lift kit work (~2 days) and now the speedo bounces around 15-20mph mark and will go up to ~45mph mark if I hit around 70mph or so. This occurred with no change to tire size or gear ratio. I have replaced the VSS (didn't help) and that about it.

Any suggestions?

It kind of sounds like the cable that spins the speedo got pulled partially out somewhere and isn't able to spin the speedo at the correct speeds. Or its broken somewhere inside the cable....

I am assuming this is not one that runs off the rear and the cable goes to the transmission?

if its a suspension lift it shouldn't have affected the cable at all (unless it got bumped or pulled out or accidentally cut or whatever) since the suspension lift actually lifts the whole frame higher, and so everything would lift with it. The only way something could have happened to the cable is if you did actually a body lift, since that means cables and wires from the body to the various places are now hyperextended. Seeing as how its a 4 inch lift I'm going to assume it was a suspension lift..
