My 1994 Ford Ranger 4.0 5spd has a Speedometer that was off even before the 15 inch tires. What needs to be replaced and how do i get the replacement corrected gear.

2nd problem My gas guage goes from above full when its full to 1/2 when it will leave me clueless untill it runs out of gas. how do i correct this

you need to find out what speedometer drive gear you have in the transmission right now before you can calculate which one you will need. theres an article on how (along with ford part numbers and tooth count) to do this in the tech library.

the only way to correct the fuel gauge is to replace the in-tank sender.

i think i just have to pull the tank and straighten out the sender unit

It might be easier to remove the bed and do it that way.

Six T-55 Torx bolts, three 7mm screws at the gas filler, and one electrical plug below the center of the tailgate, and it's off.

I have done this both ways on my '94 -- by removing the tank, and by removing the bed -- and, at least for me, it was MUCH easier to remove the bed. But my bed bolts weren't rusted too bad underneath. YMMV.
