I have a few questions before I start replacing mine. I was looking at AllData service information and it tells me to to lube the cable. Now what I bought was the actual cable with the black housing with the metal ends. Can I safely take out the cable to lube it? And how should I do it exactly? This: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Speedometer-Cable-Motormite_5610005-P_683_R%7CGRPCABLAMS_632466413___ is the cable. Do I just pull out the actual cable and put the included lube in the end with the clip that goes on the speedo head? And then I carefully insert the cable while turning it and add lube as needed? Is that how it should go? Also how does the speedo gear go on the end of the unit, does it just push on?

Speedo Gear is held on by a clip. Im not sure but i would think you would only need to lube the ends of the cable..

The cable should just slide right out of the housing (mine did anyway).

Slather the cable with some grease as you work it back into the cable jacket.
