i just got my 99 today, and the guy says it goes through speed sensors....he always has to pull em and clean them....

where is the sensor located and how can i fix it?

The speed sensor (VSS) on my 2wd '00 is located on top of the differential, and when I replaced it couple of years ago there was some gunk built up on the sensor where it sticks into the differential, but the sensor contains no moving parts so I'd be rather doubtful that cleaning it would have much of an effect one way or the other.

it is the sensor with the wire at about 11:00 in the picture. it is just amagnet so you could take it out and wipe it clean. or you cna just replace it.....takes 10 minutes 1 10mm bolt.
