on the 98 rangers the speed sensor is located on the abs sensor on the rear axle instead of on the transmission. I am wanting to do the 8.8 swap from an explorer, what do i do about the speed sensor? Did explorers ever come with a speed sensor on the axle?

Any explorer thats 96 and newer should have the VSS hole in the axle. I have a 97 explorer 8.8 and it has the VSS thats goign in my 99'

Also any 4.0L ranger 98+ will have an 8.8 and be a direct bolt in.

ALL Explorer 8.8s have the ABS/VSS sensor on top. No worries, swap away. :icon_thumby:
