my passenger side dash speaker's surround has become detached from where it used to be attached.

any cheap fixes? (like rubber cement, etc? i'm not suggesting rubber cement, just making a suggestion as to a general method that i could like brush on that would act as an air tight seal so that it wouldn't sound like crap until i have the money to buy some new ones along with some door speakers)

^^that was a really long parenthesis statement.....

I had a Sub do that one time and i just used black RTV and let it dry for a day and my brother is still using that speaker today

is this stuff acceptable?

marine bond

I'd use Formula 27 its a bond made for plastic, metal, and wood for marine boats. It's $8.00 for a small container and u just mix a little hardener with the mix, slap it on and then in 5 minutes its ready to sand in paint. good luck

i don't need to paint anything:icon_confused:

my problem is where the surround (the black rubber part that connects the cone and the mounting plate) meets the mounting plate. so the outer rim of the surround basically.

oh thought you were talking about the mounting. not sure what i'd use on a speaker, most likely just buy another if its not a speaker you can tear down and rebuild.

np, it's kind of a confusing post.

but ne1 else??

The stuff in the pic should work fine. Let it dry overnight and slowly add the bass the next day to help get the speaker moving again

but I would def start looking for new speakers. If that happened already then I doubt the voice coils are gonna hold for very long

if it is a paper cone speaker, i'd junk it and replace it. speakers are cheap.

it kind of doesn't surprise me, it seems like they should have more connection there or something. it basically just LOOKS like its gonna fall apart. i got reccomended them on here, and like they are pretty good, but that was compared to the stock ones. i want to find ones that are low profile enough that i can put my covers back over them. i hate the look without them on, it looks so unfinished.

its not a paper cone.

i'm betting it's no longer available for a very good reason. if funds are low, get a set of Pioneer speakers for your dash. decent quality and sound for the least amount of money really. and they sell them at wal-mart, but you might have to go to their website to find them. i replaced mine with Sansui speakers off ebay. good quality and i like the bass response from them even though they are only 4". they are older, but for $20 +shipping, i'm a real happy camper. good luck to you.
