so, im thinking of selling my explorer and getting a silverado ext cab.

the front doors take 6 3/4, but the rear take 4x6 (gay) so heres my question.

is there a 4x6 that has good bass, or just do what ill prob end up doing and mod it to fit a 5x7/6x8 in there.

i plan on running polk audio all around with a pioneer stereo.

what do you guys think? (no bashing please)

make 6.5s fit all the way around. run a nice set of components up front and coaxs in the back.

will 6.5s give me the bass i want?? im not gonna run a sub, maybe and i mean maybe an infinity basslink, but i doubt it.

and no amp for a while.

after much thought, i really dont need that much, just good sounding speakers.

and since the rears are 4x6, 5x7 would be real easy to use

so i figured out the setup i want. should run about 300 for everything.

speaker sound is very, very subjective. a dozen people can listen to the same speakers in the same location and each would probably hear something differently from them. we all have different ears and hear sounds differently even if it is only slightly. you need to just go in and listen to the ones you might like at local retailers, then decide for yourself.

in my case, i don't like Sony because i can never hear enough bass from them. on the other hand, i'm not a big fan Bose because they tend to leave out the midrange for me. but there will be lots of people who enjoy the sound from both those manufacturers for their own reasons.

you just need to listen and decide for yourself really... imho

i understand this, i was just getting an opinion and what may be a better choice than 4x6's in the back, but after reading a couple forums, 5x7's are a popular upgrade. so thats what ill do.

gonna run a whole pioneer system, should be just what im looking for.

those are the exact ones i picked out.

those and the matching 6 1/2s

Right on. I will tell you that they really like to be sealed up. I used quick roof (poor mans dynamat) on my doors and it sounds great. They will crank too! My deck (Pioneer DEH-3100UB) starts distorting after about half way though. I need to get a good 4 channel amp now.

its not really gonna matter what speakers your gonna use if you not gonna run an amp on them. the small amount of power a headunit puts out isnt gonna be enough to matter.
