Shady Lady, my truck is a 91 Ranger XLT with a standard cab...

Ok...I had a speaker blowout on my stockers...*whimpers* I am a music nutzo, so, I went and decided to upgrade the little old Pioneer CD deck, to a newer basic CD deck that has MP3 capabilities. That part worked out just fine...as did installing the new 3way 6.5 speakers in the door...but now we have hit a snag...a mighty big one to me.

I bought some nice DIY speaker boxes and tried to install them behind my seats...no way are they fitting. I have really long legs and have to have my seat back almost to the wall...HELP!

Any ideas on how to get around this issue? I am stuck for what to do...but I want my TUNES!!!!!

Thanks folks...

*wandering off to ponder attaching the bloody things to the windows.... :woot:

Cheers,
RhainyC

speaker boxes for what size speaker?

if your trying to install a sub in a std cab and want your seat all the way back, the only way to do it is to mount the sub on the pass side with a VERY tight fitting(custom made) box, then that side(assuming you have a 60/40 or buckets) will have to be slightly forward.

Oops! Sorry I wasn't more clear...

I have some nice 6X9s I am trying to install, and the seats are straight buckets with console in the center. Also, the whole new system is Pioneer.

you could put the other speakers in the center console....seen that done before.

otherwise if your set on putting them behind the seat, you'll just have to get creative. I seriously doubt there are any premade boxes that will fit that size speaker in that truck.

Ok cool...are there any speakers that WILL fit without issues? I am handy enough to make a box or something...and do speakers _Have_ to be enclosed? Yes, silly question but I am new to this aspect...

other option

I have encountered this a couple of times. My last was in my friends 88 simplecab. I cheated a bit. I decided to measure from driver to passenger wall to wall. Cut mdf to fit that length and cut it as tall as i wanted. then Cut another piece of mdf to cap it off. that way we used part of the cab to form box instead of losing airspace with enclosure wall. put ports in it and sounds well.He is running 12s.

Great that sounds like an idea...the boxes I have can be used as a support, without the back portions I suppose, and trimmed down depth wise...Just wish it was a bit simpler. Yeah I admit it, I am lazy!

Quick Update...

Shady now has one 6x9 behind the passenger seat, for now. I did buy 3 way 6.5s for the doors, so she is sounding ok for now. Am going to work on the box/enclosures this weekend all going well...

Thanks All!
