I am sure that this question has been asked before but:

I'm comming due for a spark plug change, what's a good plug for an '05 Edge, either OEM or upgraded? Is it also recommended to replace the wires also?, the current wires are in good shape visually.

just use oem there are lots of good plugs out there like NGK ,DENSO very good plugs used them on my yota never had a problem out of them also autolights are good too cheap and get the job done i would stay away from the E3s ive heard nothing but bad things about them unless they are on riding mowers and push mowers and high rpm performance v8s and v6s and 4cyls and yes while you are in there you might as well replace the wires too. they might look good on the outside but on the inside they could be worn out

how good are the E3s in your truck ive heard they dont do good in small car and truck motors. is your gasmileage better and hows the performance. they say an increase in performance and fuel mileage so what do you think of all that?

They work fine. Granted, they were in a distributor'd 2.9L and not a coil pack 3.0L, but they are no different than other plugs.

Performance I can not speak to as I did not get the truck dyno'd before and after (only before, unfortunately), but the engine did smooth out a little. Fuel economy was about the same (maybe a SLIGHT improvement, but I was not keeping full logs like I do now so can not say for sure); the wind plays a bigger factor in the fuel economy than a spark plug does.

I'm guessing you didn't go this link.. http://www.therangerstation.com/foru...plug+recommend
If you did you wouldn't consider any other plug other than the one that came from the factory..
Spark plugs NEVER give more power! All they do is to light the mixture.. If they DO LIGHT the mixture, no other plug can give more power! Why risk engine damage or poor performance? Just replace the factory plug with the EXACT same plug.

If the plugs in your ride now are performing and not giving problems..leave em in there until they do go away. For a factory plug this should be after 150,000 miles.

Thanks guys, i read through the plug recommendation thread, i'm gonna go with the OEM motorcraft plugs. i got a little over 66,000 which the haynes book i got suggests to swap around this time instead of the 100,000 mark. its running smooth so i don't think i need to hurry out an do it

I dont think i'd want to go over 100,000. I just recently changed out the original plugs on my '96 at 128,000 miles and there wasn't much left to them. To be honest i was surprised the thing was still running.

Platinum plug life is relative to usage. I have changed sets that the electrode was gone at 54000 miles. Changed others at 130000 miles that looked very good. Use only the Motorcraft plug designed for the engine. As far as wires no need to replace untill you have a problem with them. My factory wires on my 91 has have 256000 miles. Again if replacing wires use the factory Motorcraft wires.

Ok I have to agree with Big Jim. Spark plugs are spark plugs. But the diffrence is the quality. I had bosch platinum +2s on my truck and out here in NV it would ping like hell in the summer cause the plugs get just too darn hot and 3.0L don't need any help with detonation they do it perfectly fine on it own. I took them out and the electrodes were blown to crap....after 350-400mi.Motorcraft is what ford uses and the runner up if not a bit better is autolite plugs. But everyone can do what they want we are just here to give suggestions
