i want to put some better plugs in my 3.0 . what are the best ones for my truck ?

Not to be a douchebag, but I'm going to say the ones Ford gave you. They'll work just fine.

The best is Motorcraft. That is what comes from the factory. You can pick them up any place, just make sure they are gapped properly. I am not sure what the gap is, but you can probably find it in the owners manual!

Use the Motorcraft, as others have said. No plug CAN BE BETTER!

motorcraft plugs are made by autolite. they are one in the same. so either autolite or motorcraft would be best.

thanks for the advice

i use the ap764 autolite platinums the factory equivalent, the spark plug gap is on the sticker w/ your belt routing under the hood, it shows .042 - .046, i go .044, happy medium. this is on a 93 4x4 btw.

When changing spark plugs, always use Motorcraft double platinum's, or fine wire platinum's. They are designed to be
the correct heat range for your 2.3L, 3.0L, or 4.0L engine, as well as Ford's EDIS.

A word of caution about gapping these plugs. On the double platinum's, there are platinum beads on the center electrode, as well as the outer electrode:

Make sure you use the "wire" type of spark plug gauge, NOT the "circular" type of gauge.
When using the "wire" type of gauge, DO NOT use force to insert it in the gap, the platinum
beads can be easily damaged. To adjust the gap, bend the outer electrode close to the
spark plug threads.

Use one of these type of gap gauges:

I know Bosch makes some plugs that have 4 points on them and they don't need to be gapped. They look hardcore but they're almost $6 a piece. I bought 2 for my crappier compression cylinders (before working on my engine) and I could tell a difference for sure. Up to you though. Personally when I get some cash I am going to switch the rest of my plugs to the Bosch with the 4 points.

By the way I THINK the proper gap on the plugs are around .44 if I'm not mistaken ?

stay away from the platinum 4s, the cause misfiring to the point the engine wont run after a while, friends 3.0 had them and after 2000 miles the plugs missed so bad the trk wouldnt start, problems arised after he had a hesitation in the engine when cruising, couldnt trace the problem. then after it wouldnt start we pulled the plugs to see what was going on, then as we turned the engine over cuz all the plugs to wet to see if they were firing they were firing all over the place and really weak. changed back to ap764 autolite platinums as what was called for no more problems.

That, my friend, is known as a placebo effect.
