Spark Plugs, Coil pack, Wires

I have to agree w/BIG JIM on this one, I race a 4.0SOHC off road. All ignition parts are stock!!!!! so my point is if they hold up to that they will work driving back and forth to work.the best plugs are stock MOTORCRAFT PERIOD... gaped right out of the box. I have tried other plugs and none are anywhere near as good as motorcraft!

I am a fan of Motorcraft plugs.. I am using them in my girl as we speak... What he failed to see before his ranting is I mentioned I read all plugwires are the same but I don't know if it is true or not. I wouldn't think so.. nothing about sparkplugs or gaps was mentioned by me. As far as the reason I got a screamin demon is it was cheaper than getting a standard one from the local parts store cause I got it for half off and the one I am using is the orig from 1992 (I have a slight miss with new wires and plugs) We'll see if it goes away with the replacement of only the coil first. Plus It's on sale so why not ya know.. Keep it a secret but I plan on gapping at .55 but I am going to run Magnecor wires with the new coil pack soon as I get them ordered... Research I found shows them to be great wires.... I always shop for the deals so I get the best price possible.

Actually, the extra plugs in a 4 banger are for emission purposes.

yeah but all 8 plugs are gapped at .44 and all 8 fire... some people tend to think as long as there is a spark it will fire.. I agree with that to an extent.. But more must be better sometimes or Ford and Nissan wouldn't have added 4more plugs... That's all I am saying...

It must be true!

I installed the coil pack tonight... Plugs are at .54 Stock style wires... Don't know the brand but they are from pep boys. Plugs are Motorcraft Platnum. So far the results are it idles the exact same however it does have a little better throttle response and seems to pull harder to 55 MPH.. I will also throw in my truck runs extremly good (25 MPG on the last 17 Gal tank) and I only replaced the coil cause I got a deal on it from underdog-performance and wanted to replace the origional so I am not trying to fix anything... I don't need a tune up seeing as how I just finished building the truck late last year with all new stuff.
I would like a little smoother idle but it isn't that bad... I'll also keep the factory coil as a backup to carry on trips.
So far my opinion is this Would I recommend it. Yes cause it is cheaper than one from Autozone... More to come as I go... Gonna replace the wires with Magnecor wires when I find a deal on them. They are red so they should be amazing :thefinger:

my opinion on the Scremin Demon

Correction the plugs were at .044 thanks to a guy at the parts store writing the wrong gap down and me not double checking... Anyway regapped them and test drove for 60 miles... Idles the same.. however the hesitation that was there is now gone and it seems to be able to maintain speed on hills with out pressing further on the throttle... I have said it before and I'll say it again.. I recommend the Screamin Demon only if you can get a deal on it... In my oppinion with my truck it ran awesome anyway and you won't get any more out of it than a stock coil.. But a deal is a deal so get one if it is cheaper....

WOW! People Gettin Fired Up Over Plugs and Wires Relax!

Stock is absolutely, no doubt about it, the best setup to run, guaranteed. Those who disagree , and think they are smarter than the Ford engineers, who I am sure went to school for this, and who are backed with the bucks to test and retest to find the best ignition configuration possible, are just wrong. There you go! That settles that. Now we can move on to more important issues!

hahathats for the battle of village idiot that just took place were here to help not discriminate a**hole. . . . . . . the most commen reason for missfire in cylider 4 that i know of is im sorry a cracked vien that leaks coolant into the cylinder. . . the 4.0 started a lot smaller then it is now it been bored and stroked a couple of times by ford engineers lol . . . so if you pull plug 4 and it is steam cleand your fu**ed its the lower intake- gasket or the lower intake has a hairline crack that seals up once the trucks warm im not sure but if you pull that plug and its clean im sry man thats yo problem but im also not a mechanic but ive have spent alot of time in the garage and driveway ( and trail and buddys driveway, etc) just trying to help please keep the negative responses to a minimum

i run all motorcraft in my rig and it works perfect motorcraft parts K&N CAI flowmaster delta 2 1\2 er 2 3\4 not sure but it work famously if that helps at all
