So I have two spare tires from rangers that have brand new tread on them and they are the same size. The steel rims have rusted so bad they are not usable. So the one tire sys temporary use only on the sidewall but it looks like a normal tire other than those words. Anyone know if these could be used for daily driving, all day everyday? I really don't see why they cant since its not like the baby donut tires on cars. Surely someone has used one of these tires for more than 50 miles. I just want some input before I mount these on my winter rims.

I would not recommend using the "temporary use" tire full time. There may be something different about the internal construction of that tire that you can't see. It's a safety issue. You don't want that tire to fail catastrophically on the road. It is only meant to help you get off the highway and get help. Might last 50 miles. Might last 500 miles. But you don't know, so it's a gamble with your safety and others on the road around you.

Check out the Date code on the tires, its the Build Date

It will only be on one side of the tire, usually on the side with the DOT numbers
It will be 4 digits for WEEK and YEAR, so 3411 would be 34th week of 2011, 0708 would be 7th week 2008

Tire makers say 10years old is end of life, I say 15years is still OK, lol, but my life isn't on the line with YOUR tires

Picture here of a date code: https://www.tires-easy.com/blog/tire-dot-date-code/
This is for 2000 and newer tires

"Temporary use" tires have 1/2 the side wall thickness and only 2 ply/layers of steel instead of 4 under the tread, so they are not as good cornering or as puncture resistant as a standard tire.
These, of course, are less expensive to make but are safe if used as a spare, full time use would be possible but would't expect a long life, and carry a spare for the spare, lol.

I used to mount and balance tires everyday for two years so I know about tires. I just didn't know if anyone used these spares for longer than 50-80 miles as recommended. Guess I will have two brand new spare tires for back up.

Any tire that has been on a rim long enough that the rim rusts out enough to be useless has probably passed that 10 year tire life by another 10 years lol...

junk 'em and get new.

I knew of a guy that ran a donut spare for over 3k miles because he couldn't afford to replace the other tire... this was on a fox body Mustang back in the early 90s. that tire was bald as a baby's behind...
