My credo
Custom everything! Purists look out!
I'm going to Moab, UT for spring break and I was wondering what I should bring for spare parts? I already want to get a spare drive shaft but what else should I bring or keep in the truck?

If it was me i would take of course spare tire jack the basic tools a front and rear drive shaft... then extra oil antifreeze a hose or 2 clamps.... i always carry an extra coil on out of state trips trans fluid.. and a tow strap pr chain which is a must.... diff fluid and some other stuff that i probably forgot which most you prob knew

Hubs, Axleshafts, U-joints

I have most of that stuff already, I think I will just go with a rear shaft for now, it will be enough to get me off of the trail and back home, unless you can talk me into getting a front too... I have auto locking hubs so if I break those then I will get some decent manual locking ones, as for spare hubs Im going to take my chances and not buy those... I need a wider assortment of fluids but I think I should be good to go... What price would you pay for a spare rear drive shaft from a salvage yard?

You might also want to consider a set of ratchet straps, and NOT the crappy ones with the pull type buckle. get the real deal. You would be AMAZED at what you can use them for... holding up a tranny crossmember that manged to loose the bolts off of one side, strappng a trcak bar up to the engine mount, numerous uses.

Like a 3 inch or a 1 inch strap?

take a whole spare truck lol just jk but I would take a extra drive belt or belts those things break at the damest times and some jb weld so if you knock a hole in tranny oil pan ect you can at least patch it up so it will hold fluids

thats a good point, ill add that to the list of possible spares.

toilet paper is a must!

nothing like pooping in the desert!

LMAO you are absolutely correct on that one!

As long as you have a good spotter you shouldn't need a driveshaft... that said... I have trashed a couple. I have a spare at my house.

x2 on what BlackBII said. Spare hubs especially. I've grenaded both hubs in a 20 minute span before and it would suck to have to walk for help or get towed just cuz you don't have spare parts.
