Hi all, it's been years since I've been on here but I'm finally close to the point of having my 300,000 mile '91 revived. I've been scouring the internet for any sources for a new fan for my truck, as the current one is so cracked up that I fear replacing the bad clutch would turn it into dust the first time it engaged. No junkyards near me have any early trucks anymore, much less the 2nd gen 3.0.

Has anyone swapped to a 4.0 fan? Those are commonly available but I want to know if I can do it before I spend the coin. Can't find anything online about it. Later model 3.0 fans also seem to be out there, but again I'm unsure if they'd fit the shroud. I want to stay away from electric fans as the truck is mostly original and always cooled well even with a dying clutch. I've never had great luck with electric retrofits.

PS If anyone in or near VA has a good one laying around that they'd let go, I'd gladly buy it!

Did they change the fan for the later trucks?

Certain parts are harder to find in good shape especially fan blades. Knowing a thing or two I've learned is to what other year parts will work. The fan blade for the 3.0 ranger from 91-94 is exactly the same. My old friend years ago had a 91 3.0 5spd ranger, I did alot of maintenance to get it running and replacing the fan blade was on the list. Couldn't find one anywhere a 91-92 3.0, even the Aerostar fan is different slightly..i wanted an exact match.

I was looking at my 94 3.0 5spd ranger one day, and on a thought..both fans are exactly the same. He bought one from a 93 3.0 ranger at my friend's yard. Installed and it worked as it should. Ford added more blades to the fan in 1995 for the 3.0.

I just checked on ebay for them and they are available..type in the search box

1994 ford ranger 3.0 fan blade

You will see them for 93-94 3.0 ranger for good prices. That is the one you need.

Thanks so much! I found them almost immediately, I'll be ordering one and the new fan clutch asap!

I don't see why that matters if nothing else changed it will bolt up. Probably move more air too.

Diameter or offset may have changed too.

The radiator and radiator mounting also changed drastically in '95 across the board so anything goes as far as other changes.
